The Valentino black tie is the latest novelty just launched by the fashion house. Also called ValenTie, the black tie in wool and silk with the application of the metallic V at the end, becomes a great accessory to complete our looks.

An element closely associated with menswear, symbol of refinement, elegance, virility and masculine power, we now see it revisited on women’s outfits as well. The protagonist of the advertising campaign is in fact a woman, Kaia Gerber, American top model of 22 years old.

But how was the tie born? Let’s go back to 1880, when a few guys, members of Exter College in Oxford had the idea of taking hair ribbons and knotting them around their necks, creating precisely a tie. Satisfied with their creation, some time later they decided to order the seamstress to make real ties in the colours of their club, unwittingly launching a new fashion that quickly spread.

Did you know that?
