One of the most popular trends this year is vintage and back to the 90s. Mmh… maybe life was better there? Don’t know, I was born in the new millennium but my Boomer mom confirms, it was better in the 90s! (Just kidding)
Anyway, Virginie Viard decided to make Chanel’s old collections live again with catwalks raised to an upper floor and photographers on the side trying to capture the joie de vivre of the models between smiles and hair fluttering.
The show began with a strong reference to the spring summer fashion show in 1993 when Karl Lagerfeld presented a sequence of black & white outfits and swimsuits combined with chains. The fashion show then continues with dresses in tweed with big shoulders of the 80s’ in pastel colours: candy pink, yellow daffodil and purple.
The soundtrack was also carefully chosen, George Michael singing “Freedom ’90” in a contemporary version.
