What is the most talked about new TV series of the moment? It’s called “The Idol,” available on Sky and NOW. The main characters have certainly attracted attention; in fact, the protagonists are Abel Tesfaye (better known as The Weeknd) and Lily Rose Depp. Expectations are very high, as the producer is Sam Levinson, the same man who created Euphoria.
The series is set in Los Angeles and is about Jocelyn, a pop star, just coming out of a difficult period, who tries to take back her life and career as a singer and sexy icon. In the process, a complicated relationship arises with Tedros who is a nightclub owner, by whom she is heavily influenced. Sex, drugs, transgressions and music are the watchwords.
But what does the public think of it? Reviews are mixed, those who find it ridiculous and those who are hopelessly in love with it. Many complain that the series is trivial, especially when put in comparison with Euphoria, because the topics covered are sex and explicit language, without really going deep.
