A new beginning is in sight for Phoebe Philo. After a long silence, which began in 2018 and ended a short while ago, the designer announced her return into the fashion world with her eponymous brand of clothing and accessories.

This rumor had actually been circulating since last year, in fact it was understandable by several hints that Phoebe would soon collaborate with LVMH, giving space to her brand. Now it’s official! On the instagram profile @phoebephilo, which already boasts more than 170k followers, it is revealed that: “Our inaugural collection will be revealed and available on our website phoebephilo.com (website not yet available), in September 2023.”

But why has Phoebe turned the fashion world around? Her watchword has always been: minimalism. This was revolutionary during the period of 2000s, when fashion was eccentric, whimsical and extravagant, far removed from the commonplace. The designer was against the tide with her realistic, simple style and adherence to common life, approaching leisurewear and sportswear. Despite this, she was very successful; indeed, it was this alternative style choice that was very successful.

Phoebe was born in Paris to English parents. When she was 2 years old, they decided to return to London, where she grew up and studied. Her passion for fashion was evident from a young age; she began sewing and customising her clothes at the age of 14. In fact, a few years later she decided to start studying fashion and graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. After finishing her studies, she immediately began working for Chloé in Paris, for which she later became creative director, replacing Stella McCartney. Then, in 2008, she received a proposal from LVMH group for the same role for another French fashion house, Céline, for which she would work for 10 years, eventually leaving in 2017. And this is where the silence began… Until today!
