“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
8th September 2022. The Royal Family communicates us about the disappearance of the beloved Queen Elizabeth II. The queen died at the age of 96 years old in the year of the platinum jubilee, the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Accession Day, setting an important record. The longest reign in British history, surpassing Queen Victoria with 63 years.
At the birth of Elizabeth no one would have thought that it would be up to her to rule the country. Indeed, the father George VI became king because of the abdication of his brother Edward that chose to marry a divorced woman.
Elected queen at the young age of 25 years, she reigned for seven decades. A great responsibility for a young woman but Elizabeth was confident and with a strong temperament. She was born to be a queen. She accompanied the country during the most important and tragic events of the Commonwealth: the Cold War, the great smog of London, the close relationship with the United States, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the exit of Britain from the European Union up to the pandemic of covid.
Not only a queen but also a style icon that perfectly embodies the elegant and traditional British design. We can consider her a real trendsetter with her extravagant hats, raincoats by Barbour, bow blouses (shirts accompanied by a bow on the neck), her super colourful twinset, box bags and classic loafers.
No change of guard and a huge crowd in front of Buckingham Palace. A moment of great pain and sorrow for all the English people and not only. The funeral will be held in ten days. In the meanwhile the throne has passed into the hands of Charles III, who is her successor.
Rest in Peace Queen
