October is an important month; it’s the month dedicated to breast cancer prevention. Although medicine has made great progress in recent years and the chance of cure has markedly increased, it still remains the most common cancer among women. During this period, everything is coloured pink, just like the Isola Tiberina hospital in Rome, which has set up a space dedicated to awareness about the disease. The exhibition is organised by Valentino and will remain open until Oct. 30th, 2023.

Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of the maison talks about how the color pink is “the color of strength, resilience, courage.” which is why the protagonists wore garments from the pink PP collection. The photo collection depicts portraits of 20 women who have overcome the disease. Each face is bathed in the monochrome of pink and tells a story of pain, strength, tears but also smiles. The importance of prevention, the knowledge that a cure exists, and most importantly, the photographic evidence that it’s possible to return to a life full of color.
