Balenciaga’s Autumn Winter 2022 fashion show has definitely left a mark. Frosty. The show was held in Paris in a white field with artificial snow to recreate the climate of a storm. The models had to walk facing the bad weather. Sweatshirts and oversized jackets with caps, glasses to protect their eyes and tote bags. Among all the outfits, the dominant color was black except for the two final looks that close the show significantly: a yellow sportive suit and a blue dress with a long train, to symbolize the Ukraine flag.

The creative director, Demna Gvasalia, who in the past was a refugee himself and had to live the pain and fear caused by the war, decided to use the power of fashion to launch a message of peace and help: “I went to school in Ukraine. It was always my nightmare of embarrassment to have to stand up and speak poetry in front of people – but now I realised I wanted to do it.” These are his words.

People just want peace!
