During the keynote speech that opened the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen, the international conference dedicated to sustainability in the fashion world, Allbirds announced some big news. The New Zealand brand, founded by Tim Brown and Joey Zwillinger, has always been passionate about sustainability. It had been working for some time on creating shoes with zero net emissions, and it has succeeded! Just think, it usually takes 14 kg of CO2 to create one pair of shoes. Instead, the M0.0NSHOT, as they have been christened, will take 0.0. But what could they possibly be made of to have such low consumption?

The main material is extra fine regenerative merino wool… Yes, you got that right. Regenerative. The company that makes it, it’s called Lake Hawea Station and is located in New Zealand. One of the few farms that sequesters more carbon than it emits. Even the sole of the shoe is carbon negative, made from sugar cane. They really have thought of everything!

The shoes will be available in spring 2024. Are you curious?
