For the 2023 Resort collection, Dior makes us travel to Spain, in the center of Sevilla at Plaza de España. The fashion show began with a flamenco performance, passion red dresses that hovered accompanied by the sweetest sound of the violin. What an atmosphere!

110 looks in perfect Spanish style. Let’s start with suits composed by jacket and pants/skirt with a mannish cut but with a touch of femininity thanks to transparencies and lace, followed by long and fluttering taffeta dresses with uncovered shoulders alternated by other dresses with black and white prints with geometric elements that fit together one each other, the so-called ‘arabesque’ motifs. Obviously, the dominant color is red.

But where does this inspiration come from? Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by a woman in particular, Carmen Amaya, the first flamenco dancer and singer to have worn men’s clothes in 1950. Since she was a child she was nicknamed ‘La Capitana’ (meaning ‘the Captain’) in the street, where she learned her first dance steps.
