The real identity of Anna Delvey is Anna Sorokin, a German girl of humble origins who has convinced her parents to enroll in Central Saint Martin, the prestigious London fashion school. There, the young student falls in love with a life that doesn’t belong to her: luxury, haute couture, designer clothes, exorbitant restaurants, five-star hotels and super exclusive parties.
Her dream is to create her own business, that’s why she moved to New York. Where to pursue your dreams, if not in the Big Apple city? Here, she begins to devise her business plan, Anna Delvey Foundation, an exclusive club dedicated to art, obviously with hotel rooms, restaurants, spa, all in the name of luxury. A great ambition that requires a great funding… that Anna doesn’t have.
Thanks to the right contacts that she had created in New York and thanks to her charming and manipulative personality, the girl manages to get a loan, but it’s not enough money. So she’s forced to let go of her big dream… but not her luxurious life.
Slowly, her mask begins to fall and people start realising, in addition, Anna begins to fill up with debts that she can no longer hide. Here she is arrested for theft and fraud, but she always pleads innocent, showing up at the hearings with designer clothes, so much pride and no sign of repentance. Feeling like a real diva!
So, what happened to Anna Sorokin? Now she is serving her sentence of 4 to 12 years in New Jersey County from the ICE waiting for her to be deported to Germany. Although she failed to make the Anna Delvey Foundation, she still achieved her goal: leave a mark in history.
