Who would have thought that a work social network would actually work? When we think of social network, we usually associate it with a time of fun, entertainment and escape from reality. We open Instagram when we are bored or when we want to disconnect from the real world to enjoy some nice videos.

But why limit ourselves just to that? Probably, this is what Reid Hoffman and some of his colleagues thought 20 years ago when they decided to launch the new social of work, LinkedIn, in 2003. The goal is no longer to dabble but to talk business, to connect professionals and companies, to search for and offer jobs. Against all expectations, the platform is a great success, especially in Italy, where it marked the highest growth rates in memberships. Today the application has just celebrated the milestone of one billion registered users, with 57 million companies and more than 15 million job offers.
