The 80th edition of the Venice International Film Festival has lifted its curtains, showcasing not only cinematic masterpieces but also a carousel of elegance, glamour, and social commitment.

The face of this edition is Caterina Murino, the actress from Cagliari who has become an international ambassador thanks to her roles on the big screen, including the memorable one as a Bond girl in “Casino Royale.” Her ascent from Miss Italy to the stage of the La Scala Theatre testifies to a varied and brilliant career. And this year, as the festival’s godmother, she enchanted the audience dressed in total white, in an Italian creation by her stylist Marvi De Angelis, showing not only her beauty but also her social commitment, choosing a Fendi couture dress to express solidarity with the Iranian people.

But Lido has always been a crossroads of stars. And next to Caterina, it was Isabelle Huppert who shone, continuing her tradition of gifting the world with memorable looks. Her appearance in Balenciaga was the essence of class, confirming her reputation as a style icon.

At the same time, Serbian Milena Radulovic brought a touch of nostalgia with her 1920s-inspired look, a tribute to the past but with a decidedly contemporary style.

One notable absence was that of the famous Bradley Cooper, the director of the film “Maestro.” Cooper chose not to attend in solidarity with his fellow actors on strike in Hollywood, showing that even on a glamorous occasion like this, social causes are ever-present.

Patrick Dempsey, one of the most anticipated guests, brought with him a touch of Italian style, loyal to the Brunello Cucinelli brand, demonstrating once again his predilection for the fashion of the Bel Paese.

Beyond fashion and films, this year’s Festival also offered a moment of environmental and cultural reflection with the Green Drop Award. This prize, awarded for the twelfth consecutive year by the Green Cross, celebrates the film that best represents values of ecology and sustainable development. This year, the trophy carries a piece of history, with soil taken from Galileo’s Villa in Arcetri, paying homage to the great Italian scientist and his immortal contribution to knowledge.

Overall, this edition of the Venice Film Festival stands out as a perfect amalgam of cinema, fashion, history, and social commitment, confirming its position as one of the most important and significant film events in the world.
