On Monday, May 1st, the long-awaited Met Gala 2023 was held in the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. This year the theme chosen was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” a dedication to the Kaiser Karl Lagerfeld who left us 4 years ago on February 19th, 2019. These days are all about Karl. Let’s see what the celebrities wore for this very special occasion.

The first thing that jumps to our mind when thinking about Karl is definitely the elegance he brought with Chanel. One of the first celebrities to show up on the red carpet was Dua Lipa who wore a vintage Chanel gown. Super tight bodice and corolla skirt in white tweed and black piping belonging to the Fall-Winter 1992 Haute Couture show.

Let’s continue with Gisele Bündchen who unearthed an angelic dress by the Chanel Spring-Summer 2007 archive. The Brazilian supermodel wore a total white outfit, a tulle dress with vertical stripes covered in sequins and a cape of feathers and camellia flowers, the unmistakable symbol of the brand.

Karl Lagerfeld was fond of pearls and Kim Kardashian knows it well. That’s why she wore a jewelled gown by Daniel Roseberry. A cascade of pearls on the neckline and legs, and a champagne-coloured bodysuit that required 1,000 hours of work.

But it’s not all B&W. Naomi Campbell sports a light pink one-shoulder dress with metallic details on the bust, obviously designed by the designer, at the Chanel Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2010 fashion show.

Doja Cat certainly did not go unnoticed, who decided to pay homage to Karl’s kitten Choupette, who unfortunately stayed home. The singer wore a dress by Oscar de la Renta in shades of white and silver, all set with diamonds from head to bust, ending with a feather train. But that’s not all, Doja also wore feline-inspired prosthetics and sharp nails to best impersonate herself.

Which one is your favorite?
