Haute Couture shows are definitely the most interesting because brands put no limits on their creativity, just like Viktor & Rolf did, known for their surreal and provocative looks.
The fashion show was held at the Hotel Intercontinental in Paris and began with very elegant and structured outfits following the Haute Couture tradition of the mid XX century: ball gowns with the classic wide tulle skirt and waist cinched by a corset that highlights the décolletés decorated with sparkling stones. Even colours are sweet and soft, all pastel shades, from yellow to lilac to pink but… Model after model, the dresses begin to decay. The body moves further and further away from the dress, which, although it retains its perfect shape, becomes estranged. The clothes then flank, flip, and distort from the model.
This is how the two designers make fun of and ironically revisit traditional Haute Couture.
