Crazy temperatures. When you leave the house it feels like you’re going for a ride in hell. Here, in Milan we have reached 38 degrees and in Como 40, although perceived seems many more. It’s getting a bit too hot here… We want a hot date, not a hot planet! Just to play it down and put it a bit ‘laughing even if there is very little to laugh… This heat is getting pretty troubling.
If it is not clear, we are talking about global warming today. Even if we try to look the other way, it’s enough to leave the house to understand that these temperatures are not normal. Global warming gives us no respite, in reality, we are the ones who do not give it respite.
In fact, the main causes of these extreme temperatures are linked to human activity, the greater are the use of fossil fuels, (too many industries that increase the greenhouse effect and lead to excessive CO2 emissions) deforestation, (too many felled trees that are deprived of the ability to absorb carbon dioxide) and intensive agricultural activities. (the exaggerated use of natural resources that exceed the ability of the soil to absorb and dispose of)
Did you know that?
The problem is that, during all these years, man has altered the greenhouse effect, a natural phenomenon thanks to which our beloved Earth manages to maintain an ideal temperature.
Europe is already beginning to suffer the consequences with drought, desertification, melting glaciers, fires and record temperatures. Consider that the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) predicts a high probability that the average global temperature will rise by 1.5°, compared to the pre-industrial period.
In addition, we have a 93% probability that a year, between 2022 and 2026, will become the hottest registered, exceeding the record of 2016. Well, that’s worrying.
