Did you know that a bag can be created using mushrooms? Yes, Stella McCartney announced that from July 1st it will be possible to buy new bags in mycelium fibre created in collaboration with Bolt Threads, a company that produces alternative and sustainable materials for the fashion industry. These are the first bags in the world made working mushrooms!
What is mycelium? In short, it is the vegetative apparatus of fungi. Bolt Thread tells us that to cultivate mycelium, they have built a special breeding powered by renewable energy. Moreover, the leather obtained from these mushrooms is very similar to the animal one, with the only difference that is obviously sustainable, with few environmental impacts and without the use of oil, like most fake leather.
The bag, called Frame Mylo, will be a hand bag with a chain in recycled aluminum. But how much will it cost? The brand’s new icon will be around € 2300. And we thought truffles were expensive!
