What do Millennials really want from a job? Forbes, who interviewed a thousand of us, answered this question. Do you know what the answer was? Travel and flexible hours. I agree!

Having the possibility to choose the days and schedules of work, obviously respecting all the deadlines and being diligent, helps to have an optimal work-life balance. Work is certainly a fundamental part of each of us but it’s important not to neglect our private life and social commitments, especially for us, young people! And then, after two years locked in our house we have to recover all the trips canceled!

We’re slowly learning to assert ourselves! Well, after unpaid internships, free collaborations, not in regular works and monthly contracts of 400 euros for 8 hours a day with a day off (if you’re lucky) I’d say it’s time! I myself have unfortunately been a victim of this system, working for a showroom from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for a miserable salary.

Unfortunately, this is the working environment in Italy for young people. Toxic. It’s normal to be paid little for an internship or even not to be paid. Boomers be like: ‘You’re young, what do you expect? You have to learn to make effort! At your age, I used to blah blah… ‘.

We are always taught not to refuse any job proposal even if the salary is low, even if our skills are much higher and we would deserve more, I mean is the experience that counts, right? We are even labeled as the generation that “does not want to work”.

But beware, there was a resignation boom in 2021, guess from who? Yeah, us, Generation Z and Millennials!

And not because we don’t want to work. Perhaps, the pandemic gave us the right time to reflect and made us understand that it is important to have time for us and, above all, that we deserve a stable, serene and properly remunerated future. And you? Are you satisfied with your working life?
