Last year, during her first Met Gala, Billie Eilish surprised us by wearing a champagne-coloured dress by Oscar de la Renta just on one condition: the brand would have to abandon the use of fur for good. And it did!
Also for her second Met Gala, Billie Eilish opts for the union of style, sustainability and art. The dress worn is a masterpiece of upcycling by Gucci, meaning that it was entirely made of recycled fabrics: ivory satin corset adorned with a purple flower on the breast, sleeves in teal lace and an ivory skirt. To complete the look, Billie wears beige heels made with vegan materials. As the singer stated during the live stream of Vogue, “I just wanted to be as environmentally friendly as possible”.
Furthermore, only true art lovers will have noticed that this outfit is inspired by a painting by John Singer Sargent, an American artist of the mid-1800s considered one of the greatest portraitists of the time. The painting in question is a portrait of Madame Paul Poirson, dating from 1885.
