Her Instagram profile isn’t your typical model’s, focused solely on beauty and fashion. Backstage shots from fashion shows and ad campaigns are interspersed with fusion cuisine recipe videos. Yes, because before becoming one of the most sought-after models by top fashion houses, Gabbriette Bechtel made a name for herself on social media with her culinary experiments boasting great appeal, blending the gastronomic traditions of her multicultural family.

Born in 1997, Gabriella Leigh Bechtel hails from Orange County, California, with a Mexican mother and a Swiss-German father. Cooking is just one of her many passions (and talents) she has nurtured since childhood. After finishing high school, she headed to Los Angeles with dreams of pursuing a career in dance, eventually landing roles in music videos for Blood Orange (Dev Hynes) on MTV. It didn’t take long for her ethnically diverse features to catch the eye of modeling scouts who introduced her to the world of runways and photoshoots. Bottega Veneta, Marc Jacobs, Nike, Diesel, and Daquared2 are just a few of the brands Gabriette has walked for or represented in campaigns. Likewise, one loses count of her appearances on the covers and editorials of prestigious magazines such as Dazed, L’Officiel, and Vogue.

Then came her musical debut in 2018 when British pop singer Charli XCX enlisted her to form a punk rock band called Nasty Cherry. Though the project floundered with the pandemic, the careers of the model and singer blossomed in new forms, especially on social media, where Gabriette returned to her first love, cooking. It’s in her eclectic personality and versatile talent that the key to her success lies, complemented by her gothic chic-inspired beauty look, also known as “Succubus Chic,” characterized by raven hair, ultra-slim eyebrows, black eyeliner, and prominently displayed dark circles.
