Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster launch a new collaboration. An eyewear capsule collection with seventeen new pieces, including sun and prescription glasses, each with several color options. The red thread is an oneiric and iper realistic reinterpretation of the industrial style typical of our era. The same characteristics that Jordan Hemingway seeks in the photographs taken for the collection shooting.

This is not the first time that Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster work together, bringing to the extreme the artisanship that characterises both. The result of their last collaboration is a line with a futuristic design, which provides a snapshot of the hottest aesthetic right now. Voluminous shapes, maxi formats, smooth and voluptuous lines, which reproduce clouds’ impalpable and ever-changing movement. Clouds that were also chosen as a backdrop to present the glasses online. Many of them would look good on Bella Baxter, interpreted in Poor Creatures by recent Oscar-winner Emma Stone.

The atmosphere is the same of Yorgos Lanthimos’ movie: suspended between dream and reality, bright utopia and sordid hyper realism. Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster’s capsule collection combines metallic elements typical of modernity. The result could not have been more multiform. Pieces with retro and bon ton vibes alternate with mask glasses with fantastic outlines. Spacial design plays with colors and materials. On the one hand, we find transparent frames for a fluid and impalpable effect. On the other, protruding studs to maximise the glasses’ tridimensionality. And even genuine leather coverings to highlight their materiality.

Suspended between fantasy and reality, the new eyewear line signed by Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster dialogue with timeless issues of time and heritage.
