The days are getting longer, and spring is just around the corner. Let’s admit it: the desire to get rid of sweaters and coats is growing stronger, as is the eagerness to start the countdown for the much-anticipated summer season. But since we still have to wait for the latter, we have to content ourselves with dreaming about the moment when we can finally feel the sand under our feet and the sea breeze on our skin.

Fortunately, Lonely Planet has taken care of guiding us on this dreamy journey through coastal paradises, providing us with some ideas for the upcoming beach holidays. For those who are not familiar, the well-known publishing house specialized in travel guides, better known as the “travelers’ bible,” has just released a new book: “Best Beaches: 100 of the World’s Most Incredible Beaches.” It is a list of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world, complete with detailed descriptions of the places, photographic services, and useful tips on how to reach the shores. The only difficulty now is choosing: from Mnemba Island in Zanzibar, Tanzania, to Siargao Island in the Philippines, passing through Komodo National Park in Indonesia, where Padar Island with its famous cotton candy-colored beach stands tall.

Several European coastlines are also featured, including three Italian beaches. The first is Baia di Ieranto in the province of Naples, precisely in the municipality of Massa Lubrense: a cove rich in vegetation located at the end of the Sorrento Peninsula, right in front of the Capri’s sea stacks. Then there’s Cala Goloritzé, situated south of the Gulf of Orosei, in the province of Nuoro. This beach extends at the foot of a high rocky pinnacle, commonly called a pinnacle, among the favorite destinations for rock climbing enthusiasts. Finally, there’s Cala Capreria in the Zingaro Nature Reserve, in the province of Trapani: a cove surrounded by rocks that plunge into the crystalline waters of Castellammare del Golfo.
